Mold Inspection

Find the water first. The growth is downstream of it.

Mold is a symptom of a moisture condition. An inspection that only identifies growth, without identifying why materials are wet, produces a cleanup that fails. Home Remedies inspects for the moisture source, documents conditions with readings and photographs, and issues a written scope that addresses cause and effect together.

What the inspection covers

  • Visual assessment of affected and adjacent areas
  • Moisture meter readings on suspect materials, recorded by location
  • Relative humidity and environmental conditions in the affected space
  • Review of likely intrusion pathways: roof, plumbing, envelope, foundation, crawl space, condensation, HVAC
  • Photo documentation of observed conditions
  • A written summary with a recommended scope of work

Sampling and lab results

Where sampling is appropriate for the situation, results are summarized in the report as reported by the laboratory. We do not interpret laboratory data beyond what the laboratory states.

Timing matters

Under favorable conditions, mold may begin growing on materials that remain wet for roughly 24 to 72 hours. That is why our first questions are always about when the water started and whether the source has actually stopped.

Health questions

Exposure to mold may cause irritation, allergic responses, or aggravate asthma in some individuals, and sensitivity varies from person to person. Home Remedies does not diagnose medical conditions and does not make health determinations. Any health concern should be directed to a qualified healthcare professional.
